Hi troops, "eagle" is up for birdseed and i hear "golden cob" is the way to go. Blow me down if i can't find it anywhere! Can anyone help us? I have enough "trill" to last for a choice to be made.[if i can provide "golden cob" soon] Please help if you know a supplier in adelaide.

Richo, seeing as you only have one Budgie, stick with Trill,Golden Cob is in 25Kg bags, unless there is someone you know, that is useing G C.You could Google Golden Cob & look at there site, they may sell under a different brand name, in the super markets,or they will have where you could buy it from.

As you ionly have one then I would also say not to bother with the GC but if you can get Bird Munchies from Big W or your local Safeway i find it better then Trill

Cheers for those, I am waiting on a reply from golden cob but am not interested in 25kg, that would last 7 or 8 years! I will try Bird Munchies and see what happens. I like the idea of him having a choice.

If you bought the best quality and type of budgie seed you could afford and then did the same by buying an equal quantity of the best finch mix you can find......mix the two together ...then you will have a good blend that will help your budgies diet.

I used to use Golden Cob, but found the quality of the mix deterioate - more millet and less canary, and a lot of dust and debris. I now mix my own, Golden cob is little overrated and expensive.

I used to use Trill but they are over the top in price now!

Bird Munchies is a good choice.

There is another brand I found in Coles, it comes in a tube & darned if I can remember the name of it! It has heaps of goodies for the birds, good vitamin level, grasses, fruit etc. About $4 for around 400 grams. My birds loved it when I got it for them. It comes in a tube for Budgies, Lovebirds, Grass Parrots & Tiels. Too expensive for the amount of birds I've now got, but if it came out in a 10kg bag I'd seriouisly consider it.

If I get to Coles I'll pick one up for Boris.

The one that comes in a tube....would that be called Lovitts ?

I have only seen golden cob in those big 20-25k yellow bag's...

Produce store's have alot of it. and most usually open the bag and will bag some of it in 5kg lots for you. but im sure theirs some smaller bag's somewhere that you can get.

.... I buy by the 100kg. 4 Bags at a time. but it last me 6 months.

YES!! That is the one. Best feed around if you've only got a few beaks to feed.

LOL Daz I've got 95kg of seed at the moment, 50kg of budgie, 25kg canary and 20kg of graystripe. Should last me 3 months I reckon.

Just in case anyone is over my neck of the woods - Fernvale SEQld - the local True Value sells the seed I buy at; budgie seed $29.50 25kg, canary seed $44.00(approx) 25kg, graystripe sunflower seed $30.00 (approx) 20kg.

Haven't seen it cheaper elsewhere.

If you're ever in the hills, visit Coopers at Mylor. They have a huge range of seed and you can mix your own.

I picked up some AGM Budgie 50Ks for $60 just to top up the supply.

I've changed from mixing as it is geting hard to get all the types of seed some times.

I go through 100 kilos per month. Time to reduce numbers of birds
