Posted June 9, 200915 yr So dale has started kicking Baby in the back he will walk up kick baby in the wing a few times then put his foot up on baby's back between baby's wings. Question is ,is this just playful behavior or something else? Baby and Dale have kinda paired off grooming each other always sitting together ,if any of the other birds try to groom baby, Dale will pitch a fit! Kinda seem likea bit of courtship, but arent they both male? Pics of dale and baby (tryed to catch them in the act but camera shy and all couldnt get it) http://phantom.fatcow.com/123.JPG (Dale close ) http://phantom.fatcow.com/1234.JPG (Baby Solo) Oh By The Way Dale we have had over a year and was from what we were told 4 months old when we got him baby we have no clue came from petco band says 09 (black) So guessing just a youngin!
June 9, 200915 yr This is common I found for older budgies to do to newer budgie, it happens with same sex budgies and different sex budgies, Pretty did this to Merlin in the beginning and Merlin told him off. I am not sure if it is a dominance act or a sexual act (because this is the way the male will mount the female to mate), it could be either. I wouldn't worry about it if Baby is telling Dale off then it will stop.
