Posted June 7, 200915 yr I saw the strangest thing in the pet shop yesterday. 3 male budgies on the floor chasing each other and kissing each other. 2 of them seemed to be deeply in love and the third was jealous of the other 2. So he picked a fight and before you know it they were all rolling around on the floor wrestling each other. They then got up and started the kissing again. This was repeated over and over again. The lady from the shop said they had been doing it all week. Funny stuff. 2 of them were really big and strong ex breeder birds that were so nice so I bought them! I'm sure once I pair them up with a hen their "gay" behaviour will subside. Not that there's anything wrong with that. LOL! They are a dilute spangle green cock and a cinnamon grey cock. June 7, 200915 yr He has very faint wing markings but not cinnamon. I'm probably wrong though. I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them.
June 7, 200915 yr the behaviour is normal for males. 99% of the time a male budgie will have no troubles bonding to a hen after having a "boyfriend" - however gay budgies do exist... but many are happy to swing both ways
June 7, 200915 yr Budgies bond and their feeding behavior, grooming is not indicating that they are gay by any means but it is a "social" behavior in captivity and in the wild, what you saw is very normal and in fact if you have 2 males only you will see the same type of behavior.
June 7, 200915 yr Have you seen the Gay penguins in Germany who are now raising a chick? Birds are wonderful!
