Posted June 1, 200915 yr Is it necessary to have a perch on the nest box? This is for a breeding cage setup, not an aviary. The ones on buybudgies.com don't have perches.
June 1, 200915 yr It is really helpful to have a perch on the nestbox, both projecting inside and out. If not the hens often scatter the eggs trying to jump out of the box when you check the nestbox. When scattering the eggs they become addled and wont hatch. If it doesnt come with one, its easy to fit one. Drill bit the right size for the dowel you fit so it sits in there tight.
