I have a flock of eight. They will be ready to breed next year and I'd like to know which pairs would be best. Which pairs would produce the most stunning budgies? and could you please tell me what would be the outcome of each pair?

I don't know if they are split for anything.. if they are, the surprises will be nice :)

Hens:

-Albino

-YF1 Skyblue(possibly violet) Recessive Pied

-YF2 Cobalt Opaline

-Normal Dark Green

Cocks:

-Light Green Recessive Pied

-Grey-Green Opaline

-Goldenface Cobalt Dominant Pied

-Normal Skyblue

Thanks,

Corina

best to post pictures of your birds, if you are not interested in certain mutations and more the size of the bird, and looks then that will be your best bet so they can see them.

Okay. All I want is to have variety. I don't want to end up with a bunch of normal budgies, not that they are bad.. I love them I just want variety. So if someone could please give me their opinions I'll appreciate it very much. I want to have an idea of what I could get if I pair who with who and which would be my best options.. Thanks.

Here is my flock:

They are still young but they will all be ready next year. The youngest is 3 months old and the oldest is 9 months old.

Hens:

Snowflake: Albino

okay heres MY opinion on what pair's i would choose, im not too good with gene's and offsprings so ill leave that to some else,

first of all i would pair

louie with sky.

sonny with nixie.

Jasper is too young yet, but as you said next year your breeding so that being said, he could go with snowflake,

and oliver with fiona

like i said these are my opinion's, other may disagree

To me Jasper looks like a cinnamon... But i'm super new at this so I could be wrong!

I love Sonny and Nixxie... Very pretty birds, I would breed more of them!

Sonny-Nixie

Louie-Sky

Jasper-Snowflake

Oliver-Fiona

Those are just my opinons, these pairs will give you a lot of variety and some very beautiful birds. And wild_spot, I don't think Jasper is Cinnamon, his markings are light because he has not yet moulted in that picture, but you may notice they are not a brown colour, closer to grey.

P.S. I wrote this before I looked at mattdog2's reply, and I just noticed all the pairings I recommended are identical to his!

Thanks :)

Jasper did have very light markings but now after he moulted his markings are black and he is looking more skyblue.

Okay this is what I thought:

Sonny-Nixie

Oliver-Fiona

Louie-Snowflake

Jasper-Sky (to get some cute blue yellowfaces)

This is how they(budgies) paired up by themselves:

Louie-Snowflake

Oliver-Nixie

Sonny-Fiona

Jasper-Sky

I will let them breed with their bonded partners for the first season :D

*sneaks around hoping to steal Nixie*

Sorry but Nixie is off limits!
