Posted May 22, 200916 yr What does it exactly mean when a normal budgie has a spot on the back of its head? I read somewhere that it meant it had a pied gene? if so is it a dominant gene or recessive? Thanks, -Corina
May 22, 200916 yr I'm pretty sure that you can't have a bird that's split for Dominant Pied it can be double factor Dominant Pied but no splits so the spot would have to be a Recessive Pied indicator since you can have birds split for Recessive Pied. Anyone more knowledgable correct me if I'm wrong
May 22, 200916 yr The small spot indicates SPLIT FOR RECESSIVE PIED. You cannot hide a dominant gene like dominant pied......it either is one or it isnt. We have a whole topic on this split recessive spot on this forum.
