Posted May 22, 200916 yr Really come on people! I have the dimentions of my avairy I even have pictures of what I want it to look like and so far the quotes have come in ranging from $1400 to $4000 for the same thing!
May 22, 200916 yr An elderly showbreeder we know got charged $5000 for an aviary he swore he asked for to be twice the size he got delivered. The one delivered was one that regularly sells for around $900. Old and silly, he didnt get paperwork signed off on and he is stuck with it. QUITE frankly you are way better off buying a kit built garden shed of the size you need and modify it. Sheds are way cheaper than aviaries. Edited May 22, 200916 yr by KAZ
May 22, 200916 yr It is really hard to buy or even find someone who build's aviaries and sells them for a good price too... It isn't really fair on people like us, who love birds... But Kaz suggestion with the shed is the best way to go, if you have the spare time to do it that is... Good luck and hope you find what your looking for...
May 22, 200916 yr Author I found this shed I like and I have been thinking that if I can cut some windows in it then I could split it into two and then that would really keep the water out. Might have a talk to my builder and see if he can do that for me.

May 22, 200916 yr I've noticed that too, call it a shed and its say $900, remove 3 sides, add wire, leave small galvanised section on the bottom of those 3 sides... expect to double it.
May 22, 200916 yr Author I know, there is a place out in Officer (no jokes please) that modifies sheds and I want to go have a look at one they have for $1200 which might be what I am looking for.
May 22, 200916 yr We struck a similar situation when we were getting quotes for our new birdroom ( thye one I have now ). We got quotes as high as $12,000 !!! Went to look at a place that usually does higher priced sheds. When we were looking at a shed we liked and talked to the saleman saying it was almost right but needed to be wider....he suggested we go for the garage model which would give is higher roofline ( 8 ft to plate height anhd 9 ft to gable ) and as we didnt want the rolladoor on the end it was cheaper. We ended up with a kit for the garage that we erected ourselves and it was cheaper and stronger and better than a comparable shed which was only 6 ft tall not wide enough and would be too hot for the birds Pays to check around. And instead of purpose built flights I bought a 2nd hand patio and will enclose it the way I want myself. Edited May 22, 200916 yr by KAZ
