Posted May 20, 200915 yr hey everyone. there is a fella down in Nsw, who contacted me a couple of weeks age about a breeding cage i was after. i live in jimboomba. He is conveniently coming up to greenbank (which is 5 minutes from jimboomba) to pickup a motor or something. he said he'll drop it off. he wants $250 for it. thats too my door. i think its pretty good. but just wasnt sure and wanted a second opinion, especially as m y parents have no idea with something like this. what do you think (see picture) it doesnt have boxes ar anything and some fronts a little bent in one place. please leave your honest opinion. cheers
May 20, 200915 yr Too be completley honest I would not pay $250 for it. Maybe its because I don't like to waste money. I have seen brand new cages for cheaper than that and all wire cages are alot cheaper. Completely up to you though.
May 20, 200915 yr Author how much would you pay for it? and do you know anybody that sells any or builds them in qld. i know Daz does but the problem is he's in Strathpine which is a fair drive... anybody else you know of that has that high standard?
May 20, 200915 yr I'd pay 80 dollars for it. I am also on the hunt for breeding cages. I want the cheap wire flat pack ones for 25 dollars each from ebay. They arent on their anymore.
May 20, 200915 yr Author yes pearce i noticed they werent on eBay anymore, what a bugger. i was thinking, the only reason i want to buy a new one is because i have 1 cabinet with 4 cages that are mesh fronts. i dont like them (wooden doors). want good cage fronts. but other than that they are great. i just thought i could rip the mesh off, chuck the old nest boxes and order some new cage fronts from my mate and buy new boxes which would come to about $80-$90 for all four cages and they would look brand new, and a coat of white paint of course. that would give me atotal of 14 breeding cages. that would be all i need. unless someone else knows someone who builds cheap ones. also pearce i do know of one fella who lives at Bethania (through browns plains, waterford area qld), i ordered boxes off him, dont know how much he charges, i might give him a call tomorrow. if intrested pearce ill let you know what he wants for a breeding cage. (his nest boxes were excellent, i was very pleased with them. Edited May 20, 200915 yr by cameronsch
May 20, 200915 yr I went to heaps of places Cameron and they all reckon making them yourself is the way to go. I used twilweld and made each cage cost approx 35 dollars each for a sturdy cage. Do you have all your cages in a shed?
