Posted May 19, 200916 yr My Budgie has just started her first moult... I have only had her for about a week and a half. She is still settling in and won't eat any fresh fruit or vegies I put in for her and doesn't really do much. Will this be a problem with her moult? She eats pleanty of seed, but only seed. Is there anything I should put in her water? Anything I should be doing?
May 20, 200916 yr Initially my budgies wouldn't go near any plates of veges that I put in for them. Then I think I read on here somewhere that if you sprinkle a little seed on what you're offering them (would probably work best on cut up bits and pieces?) it will make it more attractive to them. Then once they've got the taste for it...... I did this with mine and it worked brilliantly! I also left out their normal seed container for a few hours when I did it, so that they had to get the seed from over and around the veges. Good Luck.
May 20, 200916 yr Author ^^ Oh, great idea! Would it be okay to put the vegies with seed over them in for the day while the actual seed is out for the day? Or is that too long if she doesn't eat the vegies? In regards to keeping her warm, she lives in my room but our heater is broken and I have wooden floorboards... I have a towel over two sides of her cage, but what else can I do to keep her warm? Or should she be okay as is? Thanks everyone!
