Hi Everyone,

I just found this thread and simply had to reply.

We've been having a major problem with a very cocky cock bird. His name's JOEY (original I know) and he's 2 years old.

Joey started to to get a random noise problem about nine months ago and we are now running out of ideas.

I grew up with budgies as my father bread them and I love the little guys. I've had 4 in total growing up and I've always

got them exceptionally tame. Joey is no exception - he's the best I've ever tamed. He loves being on you when HE decides to come

out and even funnier that he always wants you to ruffle his head feathers - he just loves being lightly scratched.

THE PROBLEM

Joey started making a noise that we have come to call the CHUCH. It's like a steam train pulling out of a station!

CHU CHU CHU CHUCH CHU CHUCHUCHUCHUCHUCHU you get what I mean.

The strange this is that he does it at random times and a lot!

Sometimes to get attention, when you turn your back on him, others when he flies and sometimes just for the *** of it.

It's like he's telling us off? I say he's cocky as he totally thinks he's the boss - even bosses the dog around. Joey can be

fantastic for hours and then he can go nuts for hours.

The best advice was to talk calmly to him which worked for a short while but that ended up making him act even more like he was in control.

We've got a baby on the way and after 9 months of this we're starting to worry - he's going to wake the baby, and even neighbours

next door can hear him and have moaned about it.

Like others have said on here he has an obsession for mirrors - despite being one of 2 birds in a pretty big cage.

We've taken the mirrors off him and he chuches like mad - even after 2 weeks of no mirror.

We've moved the cage no end and the same result.

It's like he's got too much energy - this bird doesn't tire like the other.

If anyone has gotten anywhere with this please share the advice - the last thing we want to have to do is lose them :-(

cheers guys

By The Way: here's the noise

I have a budgie that frequently makes that noise too, maybe not to the extent that Joey does. I would like to know what he was trying to tell me too :-) Funny little fella. I don't know what you can do about it though.
