Posted May 9, 200916 yr 2009 National Auction details are now online http://www.bctas.info:8080/display/BCT/Nat...t+of+Sale+Birds
May 9, 200916 yr I really like Gary Armstrongs pair http://www.bctas.info:8080/display/BCT/Gar...7s+auction+pair And also Peter Thurn's Albino http://www.bctas.info:8080/display/BCT/Pet...hurn+Albino+Hen
May 9, 200916 yr I am assuming that the birds that are sold at the nationals auction are the best of the best. I mean, the buyers there are the champions of their state, plus local spectators. I have never been to the nationals, in any capacity, so I am wondering what prices are like there. I figure that the birds are of top quality, so do they go for top dollar?
May 9, 200916 yr Author No details on your entries Heath ? Entry 10 ? Tomorrow Kaz- tough decisions to make about what to put in I am assuming that the birds that are sold at the nationals auction are the best of the best. I figure that the birds are of top quality, so do they go for top dollar? Dave - last year Bob Smith sold a pair for $2500, which was cheap for Bob's birds. But generally the birds average well under $1000 a pair. It really depends, last year a pair of Fallows made over $1000 and i've seen Clearwings go for similar money.
May 9, 200916 yr Author Is their a limit to how many birds you are able to sell their? The Nationals Auction is by invitation only, and generally they ask for a pair of TOP Quality birds. This year they are also having a Sale to a top price of $200.
May 11, 200916 yr Author how does the sale work Heath? Yeah JB not 100% sure - if you look on the BCT website they have the details there.
May 11, 200916 yr I would think the birds, that they have the price on,you would put your name down & if you are the only name on that bird you pay up & its yours. If there is more then one name, they will draw a name out of the hat & its yours. If there is any birds that take your fancy & you cant be there ,you can get some one to put your name down for it.You can do the same for the auction, get someone to bid ip to a price for you.
May 19, 200915 yr the birds in the *For Sale* section will be sold by mean of each person getting a number, you go into the room and pick out 1 bird to get then come out, and then the next person goes in etc. and keeps going around till all birds are sold. This is how i think we decided to run it, But i probably was asleep at the meeting lol
May 19, 200915 yr Nope but if I was, I'd be looking at the Armstrong Birds. It was the addition of Armstrong birds that has turned around all my breeding results in my birdroom for the better. And FERTILITY PLUS !!

May 19, 200915 yr this is how i thought it was going to run, Will sort through my emails today and find the exact way it will work, Dont want to give you all the wrong idea, EDIT: scrap what ive said, i cant find the email, maybe i was thinking of something else Edited May 19, 200915 yr by Andy
May 19, 200915 yr Usually you put your name against the birds you want and if there is more than one name, you draw cards. The highest gets the bird. I think that is fairer.

May 20, 200915 yr Usually you put your name against the birds you want and if there is more than one name, you draw cards. The highest gets the bird. I think that is fairer. I like that method too Daz. Even though Im extremley unlucky I managed too pull an ace at the last auction.
