The ring on her leg is green and being a young looking bird she must be a 2007 model. :D

If its a plain ring & no numbers on it,it wont mean a thing.

But if stamped & says 007 yy2 bcv 07 it a registered ring. :D

She is really different today. She has been chirping and flitting about almost non stop all day. I'm trying to trick her into eating something other than seed by giving her honey soaked vegie pieces with seed scattered over it. So far she just looks at it and throws a tantrum. She's taken up doing the Dolphin sound thing today too. She trying to get out of the cage by digging away at the wire bottom and then rolling on her back and waving her legs when she can't get out. I'm surprised she hasn't hurt herself with all of activity...strange creature. :)

I used it to make the seed stick. I was hoping that she might find she likes honey and then I could use it to get her to try other foods, withdrawing it later.

I just took a barage of abuse from her when I was covering her cage . I'd say it's because I've interrupted her routine and she wasn't happy with the food offering. :)

;)

Has she got a name yet ? If not Beeetch comes to mind ;)

LOL! it fit's her nature very well Kaz :)

She's doing something different today. For the first time she's trying to sleep on one leg. She's got her head turned (first time) but it's not under her wing.

She's not tame so It's been hard to get very close. I managed to get closer today and I suspect she has some scaly face on one side of her beak. Would that explain her symptoms and how do I get Ivermectin apart from online? Is it available from petstores or do I have to get it from an Avian vet?

Can someone have a look at the cere and tell me whether it's a male or a female? I didn't realise that it isn't blue on Lutino males.

Hey Paul

You have an angry Lutino hen.

By the sounds of it though she is doing well if she is chirping and carrying on. Sick birds are quiet, immobile, fluffed up and look very unhappy. Your girl does look to be sitting oddly on the perch though (at least in the photo above). Might indicate an injury.....

I took her to the vet and it turns out she's quite sick. I thought so. She's had a blood test and I'll get the results later. She has been injected with Antibiotics as she's full of Bacteria. I may have to go back for her to be injected again. The results will tell whether she needs to be tested for Psittacosis aswell. Interestingly she doesn't seem to have a worm problem. $266 so far and it's not finished yet. At those prices she'd better live or I'll kill her. :D

Best of luck with your hen :)

The vet just rang. No need for Psittacosis test but her blood is too thick. She's dehydrated. She told me to put a bucket of water near her cage to help humidify the space a little as I'm keeping her warm and it dries the air. I have to give a progress report in 2 days and we'll decide then whether it needs to go further.

Not going well. She's not responding to the antibiotics. The vet said she didn't have a mite or worm problem. Anyone got any ideas?

Has she been tested for megabacteria ( it is fungal not bacterial ) and mega is a secondary disease which kicks in AFTER something lese has reduced the resistance.

The said the bird was full of bacteria but didn't actually say Megabacteria. What would the treatment be for that?

Phone them and ask if it was megabacteria as that is serious. It is kind of like ( in people ) having HIV and then turning into fullblown aids.

What treatment is the bird on ?

I've rung the Vet twice now but I can only get a nurse to talk to me. They automatically check all birds for Mega and it isn't showing. They have her on a broad spectrum antibiotic but I can't remember the name. I think it might have started with D. They said they can try Baytril?? but it has to be given twice a day for 5 days and this bird isn't tame. She just screams continuously when being held.

She may be on doxycycline....usually given for psittacosis. Baytril can be given in with her water. Would be great to know exactly what you are dealing with. Good on you for hanging in there :boogie:
