The good cock to fill the eggs is a trait of the birds from Gary Armstrong........birds well known for their fertility :P

Aww the baby's look fabulous, any guesses to what color they could be?

as for the daughter's eggs, it may just be me but some of them have the pinkish glow to them,

how many nests in total of yours have got egg's/babys?

There may be a clear egg or two in the daughters nestbox ...I am not sure. BUT when they lay so many, often the last ones laid take a few days to colour up.

In Omelette's nestbox...no surprises....grey green to grey green means grey green babies I guess. Dad is split blue though.

How many nests ? Dont know. Will count for you tomorrow. I have around 30 breeding cages on the go right now in various stages.

Third chick to Omelette hatched today. The foster chick died...seemed to have an issue with its crop.

Omelettes daughters nine eggs were candled and I threw out 4.

Sorry to hear about the foster chick. Look forward to seeing all the babies from Omelette and her daughter.

its always a shame when a chick die's, to think he had a chance at life just to have it thrown away like that, almost brings a tear to your eye when they die,

i remember when i was a young little fella, around 8years old, had my skyblue dominant pied cockbird for about 6 years, and of all things it was my birthday and i took the cover off his cage and he was dead stiff leg's up on the bottom of the cage, i cryed all day and never got over it till a few months later...horrible experience, its gonna be heart crushing when my galah and rainbow lorikeet (tame inside birds) die in the future...

Fantastic kaz, my 2nd is due tomorrow ;) or late this afternoon, although he has like a yellowish belly that looks like it has a drop of some liquid in it

any idea's what it could be?? he's been alive for about 24 hours now so hes doing okay so far

On another note........fourth chick hatched as she usually does at around 1 PM in the afternoon.....first three chicks black eyed and this chick plum eyed.

They sure are growing fast :D

mine looks like the one on the left hand side, with the yellowish belly, so mine is okay then

and my hen has stuck with 9 egg's total :D just hope the hatchings arent too far apart, as im gonna handrear them for the enjoyment and i dont really want the chicks too far apart from first hatchling to last, although 3 of them i think are infertile

That is just the crop with visible food in it mattdog, so yes yours is fine. There is a condition called yellow belly, but thats for another topic.

Your chicks are looking great Kaz!! I hope you get some spangles :D

Any concerns or questions about your birds should be posted in topics of your own Mattdog, not added into other people's topics please :(

I am hoping to be able to foster some babies out later on. Her daughters eggs were candled and I threw out 4 I think. First egg due to hatch any day now.

Well done kaz! what are you going to do with the baby's once they are weaned, fledged and taking care of themselves?

As I breed for show, I will let them fly in the aviary and see how well they turn out ( or not ) after 7-8 months or so
