May 6, 200916 yr Author I don't remember saying that she did lay every 2nd day? thats becaise I never said she did. The eggs were laid between 26th and the 1st.
May 6, 200916 yr My advice is to just relax and wait the time until they are due. Dont stress your hen with too much checking. Even approaching the cage can be enough to cause stress. There is nothing you can do to change whether the eggs are fertile or not. Fertile eggs will look chrisp white on the shell, where infertile eggs tend to be off white (almost opaque) A relaxed owner will have relaxed birds and much more success with breeding :glare:
May 6, 200916 yr Author Yea well the ones I thought were fertile were white and the others that I thought were infertile were like a cream pinkish color like it said in the faq which i followed. Edited May 6, 200916 yr by Dragonx
May 6, 200916 yr I agree with Liv. I usually wait to well after my last egg was due to hatch, and then i toss them. I do candle etc... but never trust my judgement.
May 6, 200916 yr okay, great. So just let her sit and they should be fine. Eggs are robust and i bet your hen will be back on the eggs when you are not looking. normally hens wont leave a clutch of eggs for no reason.... If the eggs die, they will also lose their white colour... so in a week or so, check their fertility again The key is not to stress (the birds can sense it and it makes them stress themselves) Edited May 6, 200916 yr by **Liv**
May 6, 200916 yr A little , but animals of all species can sense fear as well as stress in humans. They also know when things are not right as well... After my Mum was released from hospital and rehabilition, she spent a lot of time in bed. Our cat, Sammi (RIP) would sit at the end of her bed and sleep until she got up. She also had a bell she'd ring for help, but if for some reason we didn't hear it, Sammi would come and get us. Animals are great like that... Edited May 6, 200916 yr by maesie Double posted
