26-4 started and I did the thing with the light.

because every time I go in there to check or do something else shes not in the box and also the eggs aint warm.

Hens dont incubate till the 3rd or fourth egg is laid. I learnt that the embryos in the eggs stay dormant until incubation has begun. so once the fourth egg is laid the hen definitly should have started incubating. How many eggs are their so far?

Also the hen could be very fast and hear you coming, so she jumps out quicksmart. Its possible, I had a hen similar.

5 well there wasnope i barly touch the nest box. I may check it once a day some times not even that. mostly every 2nd day.

What were you seeing with the light and at what stage did you candle the eggs ?

I look in the cage that is all I don't keep checkin the next box itself and then when I check the cage i don't do anything just go up to it and look in or from a distance I look in.this dark like figure in them but some were like clear with like air pockets so I tossed them out.

Well I never candle eggs but if she has 5 eggs and she is not incubating, and the eggs are cold, then their is not much hope. The eggs need a constant warmth and if she neglects them for even one night, the embryos would freeze.

Can you foster the eggs to another nest?

I seen a dark figure in some of them and the rest were clear so I throw out the ones that were clear. Like it said in the FAQ.O never mind she finally decided to sit about time.

I would not candle eggs. just wait the 25 days.

Candling can be incorect if you do not know how to do it. Until the eggs are about 5 days all you will see is clear. And after that most eggs do have air pockets. you may have thrown out perfectly good eggs.

Just wait 25 days and if the egg does not hatch, throw it away. Even 30 days is good, thats how long I wait.

Candling eggs begins at day 5-6...you have "candled" the eggs too soon and likely throw out good eggs.Like I said. You dont know what you are doing. So stop what you are doing and learn a few things first.

in your anxiety you are seeing her when she isnt in the nestbox.

I am sorry DragonX...you need a maths lesson..........and you need to learn a whole lot more before you proceed breeding your birds.

PS if anyone thinks I am being harsh...read up on dragonx's past topics.

eggs began on the 26th...28th 30th 2nd and 4th if you have 5 eggs....also you say you threw some out....so candling at this point is all over the place dates wise. If the last egg was laid in order and on the 4th it isnt ready to be candled till around the 9th

My hen laid an egg every day for 5days; you didn't think to take that into account did you. 5 days from the 26th is the 1st last egg laid on the 1st 5 days from the 1st is what? The 6th. I will wait for your apology but I won’t hold my breath.

okay for the third time I will say this my hen laid everday for 5 days.

I thought she laid every 2nd day?

My advice is do not candle the eggs, do not throw them out. Leave them in the nest for 30 days, their is nothing to lose.
