After a few hours I put the birds back in the aviary. Pictures of the aviary and birds. And the aviary The hutch. And the breeding shed
May 2, 200916 yr Wow So excellent. Fancy a working holiday at my place Pearce ? You can only go one direction from here and thats forward....great job buddy. Pat yourself on the back.
May 2, 200916 yr great job pearce! And great photo's too Hi Pearce , You have some nice looking birds there , great photo's . Good work on the aviary !!
May 2, 200916 yr Does the dove live in the hutch? And the hutch sits on the ground of your aviary? How did you end up with the Dove? Not to sound cruel, but why do you keep it? Could you not find another home for it where it could be with other doves?
May 2, 200916 yr Author it cannot fly. It is in with 2 quails. The door on the hutch is left open during the day so he comes and goes as he pleases. My mate found him a year ago outside his house with a broken wing. The rspca will not accept him and no one wants a dove that cannot fly. so he lives in my aviary.

I suppose if she went to the RSPCA she would check in, but never check out.
May 2, 200916 yr Author Would the rspca put her down? Taking her to the pound or vets they would put her down. She lives a normal life. Wakes everyone up with her cooing but you get that. I got the quails to keep her company, but she talks to the dove and budgies also.
May 2, 200916 yr Your dove lucked out when she met you Pearce....you are giving her a good life she would not have had
May 2, 200916 yr Love ya Barbary Dove pearce. Did you realise that Barbary doves are those that magicians use for their acts. White ones of course. I have Normal (like yours) Fawn and Whites but I would love to get the Tangerine. They are super birds and can be tamed very easily.
May 2, 200916 yr Author No I did not know that Ripbudgies thankyou. I thought it was a ring neck dove. Ripbudgies do you know how to sex a barbary dove? Or tell is approx age? Thankyou. Edited May 2, 200916 yr by Pearce
May 2, 200916 yr No I did not know that Ripbudgies thankyou. I thought it was a ring neck dove.Ripbudgies do you know how to sex a barbary dove? Or tell is approx age? Thankyou. Ring Neck is another name. As far as sex goes you'll have to look for behaviour signs. Generally the males court the females by cooing, fanning and dropping their tails. They do this going around the female. If she is interested she then squats down and he mounts. The fact you have one will make it hard to tell.
May 3, 200916 yr Author Oh I didnt know that. My bird coo's at all hours of the day. Its fun to watch because he sticks his head right up and does it, similar to king quails.
May 3, 200916 yr Author Its annoying but funny at the same time. They did it just to annoy me I think.
