I have a few questions..Are these birds a female Mauve Opaline and a Lutino (or Creamino?) male? Sorry about the quality of the pictures, they will have to do..they are the only pictures I have of the first two budgies I ever owned quite a few years ago, so I'm really curious to see what mutations they really were. I'm pretty sure of my guesses but you guys might notice something I haven't.

 

 

 

And yes, that is how I kept them...in a round cage, with rust, some wild bird's nest I found (I think I thought bird's nest=budgies) etc. It was many years ago and I wa very young and knew nothing about budgies...when I look at those pictures I'm suprised they survived (they actually escaped after I'd had them a few years) but they were loved, I thought I was doing the best for them.. :question:

Looks more like a violet cobalt opaline hen to me. Probably the flash tho.

 

The cock could be a lutino but i cant see the eyes and suspect is a double factor spangle green. I think i can see some green suffusion on the chest..

The boy was definetly a Lutino, he had red eyes. I have one more picture of them that shows his eyes, and though the flash was used they are very red. I don't think the girl would have been a Cobalt Violet though, her colour is not at all like my Cobalt Violet, even with the flash..she just looks Mauve to me, her colour was so much darker than my current Cobalt Violet's.

Its really hard to say sometimes when the photos are poor due to flash being used and the birds arent there for you to take other photos

Photos are not the best quality but if that is all we have to go on. So be it.

 

The first one is a Opaline Grey You can see the grey cheek patch in the top photo.

 

The second bird you say had red eyes. So I reckon it is a Yellowface Albino or Creamino which ever name you prefer. The cere is a fleshy colour not blue so can't be a DF Spangle.

I wouldve thought the boy was a lutino rather than a YF albino... just looks to consist a dark colour but I have been wrong many times before as for the hen... definitely looks opaline... dunno what colour though...

agree with RIPbudgies - opaline grey and yf albino.

I just looked again and noticed that the yellow around the face looks darker than the yellow of the body so I'm going to switch to YF albino too
