Skyblue or Cobalt? Cobalt Looks like a very well coloured skyblue to me, feathering doesnt appear dark factorish.

I'm still a little confused about Sky though.. In the sunlight she looks like a skyblue (her feathers shine very pretty) but when the light is bad or there's not enough light she looks like this:

 

 

her color still doesn't look as dark as Sonny's but not quite as light as Jasper's either. In the first picture posted the sun was shining right in front of Sky and that's why her feathers look so bright. In the second one the sun was behind her.

Going by that I might be inclined to say cobalt. Its possibly a violet sky blue, but that doesnt come across on camera very well and you would know better than us if its a purpley blue or just a deeper blue than sky blue (cobalt).

It doesn't look purpley at all and to me she looks more like a cobalt. But the fact that she looks so bright in the sun and that she is not as dark as Sonny confuses me. The three different colors being skyblue cobalt and mauve can go up or down a shade right? In that case she could be a darker skyblue or a lighter cobalt?

top row is skyblue, bottom is cobalt. now it does't have to match perfectly but the closest to that colour would be the type. Or it could be that both have the violet gene.

 

I haven't seen budgies with their black barring going into their chest so far as Jaspers does except for in the pics I've seen of black faces (where the black barring goes all over), could make a interesting 'black budgie project' perhaps. Or maybe it's common and just something that I happen to have not seen?

How odd. I didnt even notice the chest barring until you mentioned it. Interesting indeed..

The barring on the chest of your sky blue normal is interesting. I've only ever seen it before on cinnamons and it always seems to disappear after the first moult

i think it was an old member called hommer that had markins like that on his young bird too. as neville said they normally disappear after the moult.

Wow! Thank you for all the answers, that clears up all my confusions

 

The picture of Sonny is not intensified that's really how my wall looks when the sun is shining lol and I never noticed Jasper's chest until you mentioned it! That makes him even more special now ..I'll try to enjoy that look as much as I can until it goes away when he moults..

Type 1 Yellow face recessive pied sky blue violet

the yellow is bleeding to the wings and chest making it a type 2

It looks like a mature bird and there is very minimal bleeding of yellow, also the yellow is very pale. I think it's a type 1

I also think she is a YF1 since she's had her first moult already and the yellow stayed almost the same.

 

and now I have one more question.. I've seen lots of pictures of skyblues and Jasper's color looks nothing like it and he doesn't look like Sky either and since she is a skyblue violet Jasper couldn't be a skyblue violet too could he? He is not cobalt and when he flies you can almost see a very dark blueish purpleish tinge to him but nothing close to cobalt or skyblue.
