Posted April 29, 200916 yr Hi. I am currently on vetafarm and coccivet is 15 dollars for 50 ml. It says 15 ml to 10 l but obviously I could divide it and use half, even a quarter of the amount? Is coccivet a preventative medication or does it only cure the disease? Basically is it a preventative medication or a cure only? Lets say 1 bird in the aviary has coccoidois. If I treated all aviary birds with it, would they all be immune to the disease? If so, how long for? Thankyou.
April 29, 200916 yr I am going through a period in which I am talking to and using (starting) Dr Marshall's Products. Some thing to think about.

I have the lot but couldn't live without S76- it's brilliant for lice, mites and worms (especially red mites should you have the misfortune of getting them ) AND you can give it to your breeding pairs with no side effects. KD Powder is great too! You can also order Doxy and Baytril from him too.
April 29, 200916 yr Author I looked on rob marshalls website. He has Mega mix which is - MEGAMIX Natural health product to protect the flock during wet weather. Bowel cleanser for humid areas and mixed with Sulfa AVS to prevent Coccidiosis This as good as coccivet? its cheaper
April 29, 200916 yr The Budgerigar Book by Dr. Rob Marshall http://www.birdhealth.com.au/product/prod-...iebook-toc.html I have asked to be 1st on the list and asked permission to advertise it here. Pearce, I am using Megamix at the moment.... Edited April 29, 200916 yr by Daz
April 29, 200916 yr Author do you think it is just as good if not better than coccivet Daz? Should I purchase megamix or coccivet?
April 29, 200916 yr Megamix it really citric acid. Rob has formulated it into a liquid. Im also waiting for the new book to come out, was originally coming out 2 years ago. But im told its going too be a must have. The Budgerigar Medicine book is also essential reading. I think its out of print at the moment, but an excellent book covering not just medicine but feeding. Mine is very well used.
April 29, 200916 yr Author the bird is warm. His vent is not dirty. He is eating fine and his crop is full. he is puffed up, weak and lethargic. I do not know what is causing it but he is wormed and has been given calcivet to the beak. Nothing more I can do except wait and see. Could be megabacteria or psittacosis. April 29, 200916 yr thats what I thought... but renee is in WA and he is in NSW... how does he do a consult??
April 29, 200916 yr Author renee orders it from him. I have looked and I also cannot find it on the website. I also thought you need to visit a vet to get doxy, as Heath said. Would be good if you can get it from him without having to go to a vet.
April 29, 200916 yr I'm not sure about Renee, but Rob does go around to different clubs giving lectures from time to time, this is an opportunity for him to consult. You used to be able to send dropping samples and that would suffice as a consult, but i think the laws have changed since then.

You used to be able to send dropping samples and that would suffice as a consult, but i think the laws have changed since then. Well you have to be a registered client first. And then when I did an order he sent back the invoice with the products and on the back of the invoice is a full list of products. Doxy is one of them. Mind you when I have put in order for new products I have always discussed them with him on the phone (the budgie book is out of print so I needed to be sure I was dosing appropriately) and I did explain to him that I do a yearly doxy treatment for my birds .... as so many breeders do ... and so that was that. Of course, if I lived nearer I'd have a face to face consult but this is how we do it. Edited April 29, 200916 yr by renee
