Our Budgie Is Sick

Featured Replies

Hi,

I thought we would seek help diagnosing a condition our budgie has developed. About two days ago he lost the feathers around his ear canal.

We spray lice spray once a week and they both are not itching, so it is not parasite.

Is this a problem someone can inform us about?

Kind regards,

Liz and Mark

Do you have a picture of the bird?

How long have you been spraying for lice every week for?

How old is the budgie?

Magnifying glass and check ear canal for red mites....ear canals are their favourite place to hide. Spraying only works if the quality of the spray is good and the right kind for RED MITES which you may well have.

None of us are qualified to diagnosis your budgie over the internet first and foremost we are not avian (vets) so when you feel your budgie is sick please do take him to your avian vet to be diagnosed and treated correctly.
