Thankyou very much Liv and shannon.

I also do not know how to tell grey greens from olives in spangles, neither have black tails or black/navy cheek patches.

Is the fault you are refering to called opalescence?

Thankyou again.

Yes i would agree about that cock. Has some opalescence, but is not an opaline. It could be that he is split for opaline, as this can cause some opalescence. If breeding shows he is not split, then i would wager he is bred from a cock split opaline, or has some opaline in his lineage. Opalescence can sometimes be passed on without the gene itself being present.

Also, this is just an un-educated opinion having never owned or seen TCB's, but arent they commonly mistaken as opaline tcb's? TCB isnt always perfectly clear and often shows colour in the wings, leading to confusion over opalescence when in fact it is just a slightly more suffused TCB. Just a thought :) Nice birds pearce :)

P.S Not one to be an alarmist, but i think given all the problems with mega bac and cocci some members are having right now, i definately think now is a great time for long quarantines!!

Thankyou Dean.

They will be quarantined for 90 days as per usual. I am taking with someone about using other medications while in quarantine.

I was their DAz I did not see you either. Karlos went off by himself looking at birds and I was just waiting to win. I bought a show cage from the person in a grey shirt at the canteen. And I also bought some items from the table.

It is hard to tell olive from grey green in spangles. The only way to really tell is the cheek patch. Grey greens will be mottled steel grey and white, olives will be mottled violet and white. I have one that I'll try and get a photo of for you.PLUS olives are pretty rare in show budgies as the double dark factor birds are generally poorer in quality than these guys but not always.God! Sorry about the formatting.... dunno what happened there.
