Posted April 18, 200916 yr As you may well know, subject to getting permission from our landlord (which is unlikely to be a problem since she let us have one- why not two?) we are planning to get a baby boy as a friend for Cosmo in a couple of months. Just thought it might be fun (for me, at least, but hopefully for you as well) to start a thread about what variety of budgie would complement the beautiful Cosmo nicely. Obviously it will depend on what budgies are available and the right age and gender and nice temperament and everything else too, but I may still take this into consideration so get your thinking hats on What I have in mind is a colour/variety of budgie that looks completely different from Cosmo, but will still "go nicely". Personally, if I could have many budgies, I would just want as wide a range of colours and varieties as possible, so my aim is still to do this with just two. I love so many types of budgies it is hard to think of what I'd pick just for one, if I had many to choose from. So with that in mind please remember: - Cosmo is a normal - so no normals - Cosmo is cobalt, but looks green because of his YF2 or goldenface (I think the consensus is now goldenface). I don't mind greens, or YF, or blue- as long as they don't look too similar to Cosmo. - I really love spangles and brightly vivid coloured birds, but I used to breed a lot of them, and have never had a pied or a dilute, so they are also novelties to me. (Anything goes- any of these are good for different reasons) - The only colour I am probably leaning against is greygreen or olive as I don't think it complements Cosmo. Remember this is not a pair for breeding- just for two pets. Here is my most accurate recent picture of Cosmo to jog your memory. Please make suggestions or post pictures of what YOU think his friend should be like!
April 18, 200916 yr I would say a Sky blue Spangle Pied (either recessive or dominant.) Like Pie's chick, but Sky blue Edited April 18, 200916 yr by **Liv**
April 18, 200916 yr I would say a Sky blue Spangle Pied (either recessive or dominant.) Like Pie's chick, but Sky blue I was thinking also the same idea too. Maybe a sky blue (or violet) spangle cinnamon pied (even with a yellow face would be pretty)
April 18, 200916 yr Author Aww.... they are sweet Funny you should both say that. When I was first looking for a budgie last year, I fell in love with one that looked a lot like this: http://www.budgieplace.com/v_recessivepied4.jpg but he got sold before we got the okay back from our landlord so he was not meant to be. Maybe you're on to something with the sky blue pieds! Edited April 18, 200916 yr by krosp

Maybe you're on to something with the sky blue pieds! I was going to say close to the same. Pretty is also a cobalt turned green due to her YF2. She looks most striking next to Dave. Dave also happens to be a funny and sweet guy. She also goes nicely with BB who is still blue. Oh heck with looks good with Shelfie too. But I think the the "clear" wing is a nice contrast to the stripy "normal" wings. I hope I make sense. Summer
April 18, 200916 yr I think a pretty Yellow Face 1 Recessive Violet Pied and you can throw spangle in there too if you like.
April 18, 200916 yr I think a YF violet spangle dom pied would be gorgeous, but how to breed on on order?????? Or YF violet clearwing would be very nice too.
