One of my budgies has this unusual behaviour that I was hoping someone could tell me what he is doing or if they have seen it before in other budgies. I don't really know how to describe it other than it looks like he has seed stuck in his mouth. He can do this for long periods of time throughout the day and this has been going on for over 12 months, so it's obviously not making him unwell. I sometimes wonder if he has some sort of obsessive complusive disorder. Anyway, this is a little video I just took so you can get can idea of what I am talking about....

I can't seen anything out of the ordinary. Many of my birds do this occasionally. Not being a behaviorist in budgerigars I can only have a guess at Yawning? :yellowhead:

He is definitely not yawning, its probably just not a good video to really show what he is doing

That sounds like you could be right there, as it does look to me like he is chewing and I have noticed soft bits of seed falling out of his mouth at times, but he does this for long periods of time, is that normal behaviour?

Yes it's normal for birds to bring up some crop food and chew it again. Especially if you see seeds and food randomly falling out of his mouth while he does it. Perhaps he's bored, or not chewing his food properly the first time.

Merlin will do that.
