Posted April 17, 200916 yr One of the budgies i got 2 weeks ago is not well, she has sloppy green poos, fluffed up and not eating much. i rang the vet and i can get a appointment tomorrow morning. I have her in a hospital cage but what i am wondering is why would she be fine for 2 weeks and then get sick. None of the others are showing any signs of sickness. When i got them they all were a bit fluffed up and had dirty bottoms but it clear up within a couple of days and i thought it was properly due to living in unhealthy conditions.
April 17, 200916 yr Where has she been in relation to any other birds Deb ? the delay in getting sick could be due to an incubation period of an illness contracted from a carrier.
April 17, 200916 yr Author Where has she been in relation to any other birds Deb ? the delay in getting sick could be due to an incubation period of an illness contracted from a carrier. The new budgies are in quarantine cages in my screen enclosed room which is 14 metres away from my aviaries. I have moved her into my laundry which has the door shut so she is not near any other birds now.
April 17, 200916 yr as Kaz said and stress can trigger an on set of illness too being moved from one place to the next, I hope she is okay. Keep her very warm that is key too.
April 17, 200916 yr Author The hen died last night but i am taking one of the other hens to the vet this morning for a checkup because her poos are not a normal colour either.
April 18, 200916 yr So sorry Deb... I'd definately get the others checked out... fingers crossed you don't loose any more... be sure to be extra, extra careful before going down to the aviary... the kids as well!!! Don't want it spreading.
April 18, 200916 yr Author I took the budgie to the vet and found out they have worms so i started another topic about my vet trip.
