Posted April 15, 200916 yr Well I promised to show you how I buld the cages. Plans > Tonight I did the trays. I started with 12mm Hard wood and milled it to size. 20mm x 10mm and 10mm x 10mm Then cut the slots to take the base. I did this by adjusting the saw blade down to 4mm and the fence to 2mm. I then cut the rails to length, not before making sure the gauges where square. I then dry fitted to make sure they were correct. Next I cut the base sheet which is 3mm White Plastic Coated Ply. and again dry fitted. Some adjustments were needed. Air Gun with 15mm brads at the ready. I only glued the corners as I wanted the plywood to breath and move. Nailed the corners as well and repeated 3 more times to complete the trays. Tomorrow, i'll start on the case.
April 15, 200916 yr Looks fantastic, and really professional. I only wish I could make sense of the plan. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
April 16, 200916 yr Author Night 2.... I've cut the carcase to size Top , Bottom, Sides and middle divider. Then changed the saw to a router. Put a new 6.5mm bit in.... I do change things as I go. I'll alter it on the plans latter. Routed slots in the left side, top and bottom. This is for the future front slide. I also routed a 12mm x 4mm slot in the horizontal divider to strengthen the middle partition. The corner joints were done with biscuit joinery, glue...... ... and 25mm brads. Got to make sure all is square. Dry position the dividers and trays. There is some small alterations needed tomorrow and the dividers will go in. Then I have to do the front rail and back. April 16, 200916 yr Author I take the saw out and change the table to fit the router... Tritan makes a great hobbie saw set up.. I highly recommend it.

April 19, 200916 yr drinking while building tutut it looks great i am guessing it is forlike sending birds on planes and stuff like that
April 19, 200916 yr Author Sending birds any where... if I am taking many birds to the pet shop ... etc...
April 19, 200916 yr Sending a cage like Daz is making would be very expensive to send by Air Freight. Daz is the purpose more for local transport?????
April 19, 200916 yr Author yes it is more for a local transport of the birds. I am finding that taking 20 birds to pet shops is not easy. So the Travel Cage is mostly for that purpose.
April 20, 200916 yr Author Thanks Heath. I put two fronts in last night before bed as I have a committee meeting tonight. I'll put up the photos when I get home.. Got to work to get the money.
April 20, 200916 yr Wow :hooray: So good  PS with gear like that you could take your aviary birds on holidays with you :hooray:
April 20, 200916 yr Author ... now I have to strip it down so I can paint it. Clear Polyurathane so it can be disinfected.
