I saw a mouse outside my breeding room today. I ocassionally leave the door open for more ventilation. Their are no loose birds in the room, just cages.

Is it safe to put the ratsack on the floor of the breeding room? The birds would be no where near it.

Im just worried if another mouse gets in, takes the ratsack and drops it in one of the cages. It would be hard for them to do but it I will not underestimate them.

I have had mice in my breeding room and i have bought baits to use, because the traps are not working. I have put the baits in Chinese plastic takeaway containers with the lids on but cut a small hole in the side so the mice can get into the containers and eat the bait but not move it through the breeding room.

Use a bait station...a wooden box with a hole each end and the poison inside in the middle...all fully enclosed.

Thankyou KAZ and DEB I will give both ideas a go. I hate mice.

I use the wax blocks as the mice don't move those too far and can't get them throught the wire.

Are they those green blocks that you nail to the wall and the mice are supposed to lick them and die?

Yep, green, blue - different brands, different colours. Some have nail spots (we had to nail the ones in our roof down coz the huge mutant rats just carried them away!!!!!) some don't. I don't worry about nailing them just throw the old ones away when they get too small but I don't find that the mice take the anywhere really, just move them a little - they chew on the block. Initially, depending on mice numbers you might need to replace them regularly (as they get eaten down) but once you knock them back a bit, you'll find the blocks last a long time - unless you have super breeding mice colonies nearby of course.

Are the traps effective splat? What do you use as bait

Best success I have had with mousetrap bait is nutella Also other swear by pieces of caramel slice
