June 17, 200915 yr If you look at that young one now, can you tell if she will be flecked? Does much flecking disappear or appear in between moults?
June 17, 200915 yr Author If you look at that young one now, can you tell if she will be flecked? Does much flecking disappear or appear in between moults? Too soon Dave. As babies have barring you cannot see future flecking.
June 17, 200915 yr Oh okay, I didn't know if you could look at a young birds barring, and see if the barring was straigh or not, and if that could indicate any flecking or not? All speculation on my behalf What about the second question? Just in general?

June 18, 200915 yr Just a question, is flecking good to have or is it better to have without the flecking when breeding? cause one of my hen's has got it to.
June 18, 200915 yr Author Just a question, is flecking good to have or is it better to have without the flecking when breeding? cause one of my hen's has got it to. Flecking is NOT a desirable trait in a show bird.
June 18, 200915 yr Just a question, is flecking good to have or is it better to have without the flecking when breeding? cause one of my hen's has got it to. It depends how heavy it is but basically it's a fault on the show bench and if you can minimize or eradicate it is better.
June 18, 200915 yr i see. thanks for answering. if she breed's, she breed's, nothing much i can do as she's in an aviary, and im not gonna take her out.
June 18, 200915 yr Matt when mating up,it is best if you dont have to use flecked birds. But if you do,make sure one of the pr has a nice clear top & the chicks from that mating, make sure you don't mate back to a flecked bird.

Her mate is a beautifull normal light green split for blue and albino. and the flecked hen is a violet opaline both show type's the father is very long and has got some size to him. although the hen has lost alot more fleck then she had when sitting her egg's. she has 4 baby's right now 1. normal sky blue(he's frigen huge!) 2. normal violet(possible opaline) 3. normal light green possibly opaline also 4. red-eyed pure white albino. June 26, 200915 yr Author Uno is out and so is the foster baby which is Omelette's youngest baby. Parents and Omelette's youngest
June 27, 200915 yr she is split blue and her parents are both Gary Gazzard birds bred by Clint Ault. Hey Kaz Lovely baby Uno! She and her Mum should pass on some lovely features to your stud! Also I'm just going to pick on what you said a little bit..... "split for blue" well she technically IS a blue but with the grey gene added - probably a little more correct and a little less confusing to say she is single factor grey. Just me being pedantic Oh and I looooove the upturned icecream container as a refuge idea - I'll have to use that one myself instead of trying to make little wooden shelters and having a real struggle cleaning them.
