Wow 65 eggs!!! That's a lot of new birds you've got on the way.

I'm sure a lot of members would be glad to give you a hand if you need to free up a little space in your aviaries

Very nice birds.

Two chicks now to Rocky and Mama...........

One only chick to this pair. There were two. BUT one had severely splayed legs and actually had ********* growth issues also. At age 9 days looked only 3 days old. Culled the baby.

We will only have one chick this round. She got off the eggs for quite some time one afternoon mid incubation and resulted in some chicks dead in shell.

Correction. it wasnt actually a splayed leg situation. the left leg was broken partway from the hip area to the "knee joint ", causing swelling, redness and fluid build up. it could not have been hobbled as the cure for splayed legs and the breakage was too high up to be able to be treated.

These things happen. Good luck with the 1 left and the future champs in round 2

Our budgie club took a bus trip outing to Cec & Brenda Gearing's ( down south of Bunbury ) yesterday. We had a lunch and we had the opportunity to buy some birds. There were birds there ready with prices and in show cages ( at prices below normal auction prices for Cec Gearing birds ) and I came home with a handful of new birds.

This one is not a purchase, but mine by arrangement some months ago....baby grey normal.

She is a bossy madam....takes on all comers. Her name is DIVA.

She is lovely Kaz. She moulted out that cap well- I thought she may have retained the flecking a bit more. Will be an impatient time waiting for her to put to nest

She didnt actually have any flecking and she isnt opaline. Its just that when I got her she was a baby just out of the nestbox so she had barring not flecking.

three eggs so far to this pair :P

I like this pairing, Kaz, especially the grey normal. Hope you get some good chicks. Will the potential flecking show after the first mault in the chicks?

Ah, just read the rest of the post. It's a shame to have only 1 chick this round. Hope you have more success next time - but you know what they say about the best pairs being the most difficult to give you chicks. Chick quantity is inversely proportional to the cost you paid - the more expensive - then the better the bird - the less chicks that you always seem to get (in my humble opinion anyway)

The throat spots and mask on the hen are stunning!! I hope they come through on the chick too :P

I realise it was just barring but I have found that if they have a cap like that they are more likely to develop flecking.

I never said she was opaline?

Fingers crossed then. About the opaline...I know you didnt say opaline. I brought it up because its usually associated with flecking :D

Little Uno is a cutie.

She has decent bodyweight, good backskull, and top of head feather. She is sweet natured ;)

Awwww..... Uno is sooo gorgeous!!!!

What did you end up calling the Dad? Rocky? Would love to see some more photos of him?
