Posted April 12, 200916 yr Our budgie club took a bus trip outing to Cec & Brenda Gearing's ( down south of Bunbury ) yesterday. We had a lunch and we had the opportunity to buy some birds. There were birds there ready with prices and in show cages ( at prices below normal auction prices for Cec Gearing birds ) and I came home with a handful of new birds. There was a system in place whereby anyone wanting to purchase a bird had to put their name in a barrel and when your name was drawn that gave you a place on a list. 1st person on the list got to choose their first bird and second person got to choose their favourite bird and so on down the list and then the list kept going until you had either spent all your money or chosen all you were interested in. I was lucky in that I had a decent budgie budget for this, but because of the system, some of us did not actually get our 1st, 2nd or 3rd choices and we then had to choose other birds. Anyway, here are mine. A. Cinnamon opaline grey hen.........( Clint Ault hen ) B. Grey normal ( sire a G Watson cock that Cec paid $2.200 for ) to be paired with hen above ) ....... C. December 08 bred split danish hen......... D. Young green hen.............. E. Grey normal.......... F. not a purchase, but mine by arrangement some months ago....baby grey normal. April 12, 200916 yr I like the look of the UBC,the cinnomon opline hen,no The grey watson, ; like the head, bit hard to tell if the length of body is there. The green looks short on the perch.E the normal grey, looks to have length.

Thanks Macka. I know the cinnamon opaline hen ( Clint Ault bird ) has major flecking I will have to work with. The grey Watson has length and has good shoulders and is stocky but I could get him to settle for a better photo. The green split danish ( 3-4 months old ) isnt actually short but big head in photos makes her look that way. Photos are funny like that. Edited April 12, 200916 yr by KAZ

April 12, 200916 yr Well done Kaz! Why was Cec getting rid of Clint Ault and Watson birds? How old are they?
April 12, 200916 yr Author Well done Kaz! Why was Cec getting rid of Clint Ault and Watson birds? How old are they? The hen bred well last season and the grey is from a Gary Watson cock that Cec paid $2,200 for and he is only just 2 yrs old. Why anyone sells them ? Usually because they keep the better ones or the chicks that they produced. The hen maybe because she is heavily flecked. Edited April 12, 200916 yr by KAZ

The Grey's father is a yellow face Grey i think, Cec bought him at Brisbane BRASEA in 2007 ???? If it is from this bird, Garry Gazzard also got some of this family. Great pick up. I also like the Grey opaline cinnamon hen from Clint. I will be very interested to see the offspring from this pairing.
