Posted April 11, 200916 yr Anyone know any sites where I can order seeds/grains to make my own seed mix for my birds. There's only one place I know of in my area that sells non-mixed seeds and they are very expensive. Also so I don't have to add another thread (feel like I'm asking too many question ) can I use the same calcium suppliment I use for my reptiles for my birds too it's called Repti-cal by Aristopet (Natural Phosphorus free, calcium & vit D suppliment).
April 11, 200916 yr I can't answer the first question but I would say no to the other one, birds and reptiles are different and need different things. They can't share calcium or UV-lamps. I use a really good calcium product called calcivet, it is for parrots! I bought it from www.birdcareco.com (I hope it's okay linking to companies? If it isn't you can send me a pm and I will give you the link).
April 11, 200916 yr Avi-cal is also a good calcium supplement from birds. Calcivet and avi-cal can be bought from vetafarm. I agree with dezdemona, I wouldnt use reptile supplements for budgies. You could cook some eggs up for the birds if you wanted to... Or even egg shells. Just as good as calcivet in my opinion.
April 11, 200916 yr Author Thanks, I add ground eggshell to by budgie treat biscuits already, I was just wondering since I've got the reptile calcium powder already that I might ask and see what comes up. Also I've been looking around for hemp seed and found hemp flour, would it be okay to include hemp flour in a budgie treat?

April 11, 200916 yr Author They had the protien powder on the site that sold the flour too. Seems they can make just about anything out of hemp, they make building blocks out of it as well.
