Breeding Cinnamons

What is the best pairing if you want to bred Cinnamons?

Cinnamon x Cinammon?

Normal/Cinnamon x Cinnamon?

What piaring have you got the best result from?

Merv

Well

Cin x cin = All cinnamons

Normal cock/cinnamon x cinnamon hen = Cinnamon Cocks, Normal/cinnamon Cocks, cinnamon Hens, Normal Hens

Hens cant be split sex linked genes so...

Cin x Cin gives more cinnamons but if you want normals aswell you would best go with pairing 2.

I would think cin to cin if that's what you want

Sorry, I was thinking more to keep or get a good deep cinnamon colour and good body colour.

I paired a Light Green Cinnamon Cock to a Grey Green Cinnamon Hen last year, got 2 chicks, Grey Cinnamon and Grey Green Cinnamon, their body colour and cinnamon markings are very light.

Oh okay If you mean it that way I cannot help. I dont breed cinnamons.

Cinnamon does dilut the body colouring. You can use cinnamon to help the suffusion of a Spangle Double Factor. I use it this way.

Merv I understand your question but can't help in this occassion.

I know the best pairing for Recessive pieds is Normal/split to recessive.

Can you please explain why The recessive pied pairing is best done that way Daz?

Edited by Pearce

since recessive pied is a smaller bird I believe that pairing is best to add size to the bird. But daz would give more info i'm sure

Your best pairing , to achieve Quality cinniams in cocks and hens is .

A Normal split cinn cock with a good depth of colour and dark factor if possible to a Normal hen also of quality depth in colour and dark factor if possible.

The results will be Normal split cinn cocks

Cinn cocks

Normal hens

and Cinn hens .

The problem with pairing cinn to cinn is you will loose the colour intensity and you will also develop a shorter feather length, you must cross to normals.

Very interesting Lochlan thanks very much for that.,

I can understand the colouring but you wont get Cinn Cocks from a Split cock to normal hen. You'll get Split cocks and normal cocks.

Thanks Lochlen that was really helpful as I have never really bred cinnamons and I do relise the colour does get washed out but didn't think about the feather length because cinnamon is meant to improve feather but I guess if you double dipp you get the opposite

I with you Daz you can't get a cin cock from a normal hen and split cinn cock

Yes , Your right , A typo error , The pairing should have been a Cinn Hen for the Pridicted outcomes.
