I've seen excellent yf's and ino's. Which mutation do you have trouble with the most shannon.

I would think spangles could be difficult too because the marking many times are not strong enough and can get washed out by other mutations...just my thought though.

Good question.

Yes I thought that too Elly. Spangles are generally a bigger mutation and more popular but yeah, some wing markings need to be improved. It will be interesting to see what others say.

i have not breed a spangle yet so i do not no lol

do not pair with tham

I like spangles. Very colourfull and big in size.

I think you will find that getting the outline and type of bird to the right proportions the hardest mutation in the show standard

Alot of breeders near me say that Crested and the pied are the hardest as they are just plain smaller then most other mutations

With out doubt Clearwings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the strongest varieties is spangles,

Crested have improved heaps recently

What Heath said! Clearwing, clearwing, clearwing and blackeyed selfs. Over 6 years I took a line of petshop lacewings to a 4th place at the nats last year so IMO I don't think they are that hard to improve. I'm giving clearwings and blackeyes a bash now coz........... well, I think I'm nuts, that's why. The big issue with clearwings is the wing markings COMBINED with the size and style and the pin headedness just seems to be so hardwired into the variety, when you make in roads with that, you lose the clear wing markings grrrrrr.
