April 6, 200916 yr ... give all the cages, flights and nests a good cleaning now and once a week. Chnage the water everyday. Check that there is no spoilt food.
April 6, 200916 yr My quails got e.coli a few years ago. Their water would have been contaminated by budgie droppings most likely. I came home one day and all quails were dead in the seed dish. Apparently it causes a bird to starve to death, it cannot eat even if its hungry. Here is an article about it. Says that if hens get it they may become infertile and chicks can get it when being fed by parents. Quote from Barrie Shutt Budgerigars. "Basically a bird with an E.coli. infection will look fluffed, become lethargic, stop eating, loose weight and may have diarrheoa." "If you want to promote good health in birds you need: · good hygiene · good nutrition · good water supply · good aviary management · good quarantine · ventilation." http://www.officialbarrieshuttbudgerigars.com/ecoli.htm Excellent article, I hope they get better.
