Posted April 1, 200916 yr well my sky violet cin opaline hen and my yellow face type two albeno their chicks were as follows a skyblue spangle with a darkblue tail a violetsky spangle a violet opaline a skyblue normal now thats nothing weird ...how ever the skyblue spangle with the darkblue tail he after 6 weeks started to get a yellow seep into the underneath of his tail feathers i remember kaz saying it was poo stain but it was not i washed him and still a very pale lemmon yellow i disregared it and the bird was sold now the chicks are going into their first moult and the violetsky spangle is one feather at a time turing yellow face and his under feathers also are starting to seep very pale yellow that was okay i looked at remainging two bird and nothing this morning however the violet opaline cock has began to grow in yellow feathers on his face also the skyblue normal nothing i e mailed the man i sold the first chick to and asked him if his chick had this same thing happen and he replyed saying no it was still white faced so can anyone tell me ?????whats going on i thought birds were either born yellow face or they were not ....am i wrong can they change after the first moult ? i will take more later and some of the violet cock to show you Edited April 1, 200916 yr by GenericBlue
April 1, 200916 yr you will probably find that the chick is YF, but its so light you can barely see it. YF always moults in darker than the YF in nest feather. just saw your photos... It looks bizarre, but i still think the yellow must be there, but VERY pale. The new yellow coming though is very light so he must be a very light YF. Edited April 1, 200916 yr by **Liv**

The new yellow coming though is very light so he must be a very light YF. no they were white liv and the yellow is actually quiet buttercup not lemmon as apears i will keep updated pics when can the yellow face always does moult in darker you are right but this is really diffrent i swear ive had light yellow faces before and as you say they are quiet faint but this ..the chicks were really white faced i will put up picture latter of chicks when out nest when able
April 1, 200916 yr Wow, now THAT IS interesting. I can definitely see that the rest of the bird where it has not moulted out is white. But some of the pin feathers look like they are still white too...... More photos of before and as they progress please.

More photos of before and as they progress please.defenently i will this is very odd in my books the other chick is less yellow again the feathers are so random will get more pics full body frount back side when can moving next to days so but may get some timeIt hasn't taken up smoking has it?? That turned grandad's whiskers yellow... :rofl:
April 1, 200916 yr Hey GB, can you post a picture of the parents? From what I can recall isn't the yellow face in the ino quite pale? Maybe this might have someting to do with it. PS By the way that chick is turning out pretty! Edited April 1, 200916 yr by Kazzy
April 1, 200916 yr Not sure, I guess it's a yellow face but thats strange... the white isn't like an off white colour or something??
