Posted March 30, 200916 yr I'll start breeding next year but this question popped into my head today so here it goes.. I have 2 birds, a cock and a hen.. and I'll be using my sister's 2 hens as well so that makes 3 hens and 1 cock. What would be the best combinations? I'll be getting another 2 cocks pretty soon..so will you suggest what types will be best to look for so I can get the best combinations possible? Here is my still young flock: (and I'll be breeding only pet type budgies) YF type 2 sky blue recessive pied hen Normal dark green hen Albino hen Green recessive pied cock (Light green or just green?)
March 30, 200916 yr The fun thing about breeding pet budgies, is you can put anything together. What looks are you after??

March 30, 200916 yr Congrats one looking into breeding ( don't know if you have done it before LOL ) I am not too sure if you and your sister's birds are housed together if not then be sure to quarrantine But I am glad that you stated you are looking at breeding some time next year as some of those photo's are of "underage" one ... But ... Like the others have said it depends on what YOU are after ... they are pet types so if you are breeding for selling or just to increase your flock size ... There is nothing more tranquill then looking into an avairy with a rainbow of colors .... But if it is your first time why not let them bond to who they want first, then next round have a go at selctive pairing

I know how important quarantine is even though my family think I'm crazy lolMy flock is still very young and they are all under 7 months so that's why i'm waiting for a whole year to make sure they are of age, and I only want pet types since I don't even think there's such thing as bird shows here where I live.. I'm only in this for the love of the birds not for the money :)I already have found good homes for some of the chicks that will come next year lol since I can't keep all of them.. so yea everyone is pretty excited and looking forward for me to start breeding again!
