Posted March 30, 200916 yr My mom has these plants around the house and I have no idea what they are.. are they budgie safe? what about cat grass..is that budgie safe?
March 30, 200916 yr Hi cory, I have a lot of houseplants, so when I got my first budgies, I looked all over on line and found some contradicting lists of safe and non-safe plants, so I could be wrong about this. However, as far as I know, both of those plants are considered unsafe. The one of the left is called Caladium, and the one on the right looks to me like a peace lilly. I'm pretty sure that both of those were on all the bad lists, but not on any good lists. If you remember, I mentioned Pothos being poisonous on one of your other posts, but just two minutes ago, I was looking at the FAQ secton, and pothos was listed as safe! (I'm still going to keep my budgies away from mine.) Hope this helps.
March 30, 200916 yr The first one looks like a philodendron (there are many types). Some are poisonous (they might all be, I'm not sure). I don't recognise the second plant.

I figured I'll just keep my birds away from all of them just to be safe.. and we do have some pothos too.. My mom is crazy about plants just like I'm crazy about my birds Here are some other plants my mom keeps around: ..and again I don't know what they are.. Edited March 30, 200916 yr by Cory
March 30, 200916 yr Top left looks like alovera. It would be great if your budgie burns itself , but i don't know if its poisonous? Have you asked your mother what type of plants they are? Edited March 30, 200916 yr by Hills

She doesn't know what they are either lol, she just likes plants.. any plants but yea the top one is curative and that I know because its great for burns like you said and we have also used it for wasp and bee stings and it really works
March 30, 200916 yr Aloe isn't very toxic, but can irritate the digestive system if they eat the skin. This one looks like Swedish Ivy, but it's a bit hard to tell. http://tbn1.google.com/images?q=tbn:oApl5d...st5/Slide11.JPG If that's what it is, it's non-toxic also. The last one is Schlumbergera - claw cactus or "christmas cactus". It's non-toxic. Edited March 30, 200916 yr by Emma
March 30, 200916 yr This one is Aloe Vera Barbadensis, it is poisonous to humans so l'm sure it is for birds too. This one is commonly called a Christmas cactus, it is not poisonous l'm not too sure what this one is.
