Posted March 26, 200916 yr Snowflake my albino seems to have started moulting some days ago and I noticed some blood on her wings, not alot just some drops on her flight feathers. She seems very happy though.. not like she is in any pain and she is acting normal..like nothing has happened. Why is she bleeding and what can I do? I read somewhere that albinos tend to have feather problems is this true? Edited March 26, 200916 yr by Cory
March 26, 200916 yr Albinos do not have feather problems just becasue they are an albino...NO. Bleeding with bringing in new feathers is more often associated with french moult birds. Can you post some pictures so we can see ?

Can you post some pictures so we can see ? Thanks ..that's what I thought but really I don't even know what to believe anymore.. So albinos are just like any other budgie but without any color right? and so are Lutinos.. and the difference is albinos are white based and lutinos are yellow based right? I'll try and get some pictures.. I checked more closely and the blood is all dried up and there's no signs of any more bleeding. It seems that is only one feather on each wing that was bleeding and it is the exact same one too.. I think it is a secondary flight feather in the edge of each wing (if that makes sense) Her primary flights are clipped. Unless the bleeding feathers were actually new primary flight feathers coming out? ..I better get some pictures.. is not very visible though.. Edited March 27, 200916 yr by Cory

There is nothing much that is especially prone to affect an inos more than any other kind of budgie as a rule. They are just another colour or type mutation when its all said and done.

That clears up all the confusions I had.. about that topic anyway.. Some sites are very good at misleading people..

March 27, 200916 yr Author Here is a picture: In here you can see the bloody feather.. The blood is all dried up now.. and there is also a little red hole in her beak.. what is it?
March 27, 200916 yr Hole in the beak is an injury...like a bite from another bird or s scratch from something.
March 28, 200916 yr Author Hole in the beak is an injury...like a bite from another bird or s scratch from something. Okay thanks I also figured that the blood on her feather is also due to an injury.. I saw her figthing with my oldest hen which is the bully of the flock. She is very possesive of things like food, perches toys and even the other birds.. and sometimes she is even agressive towards me. What can I do to stop her bullying the others without having to separate her from the flock?

Most of the time the bickering and bullying nature of hens is due to possession of stuff....mostly perches and space. Time to reassess the size of cage, how many perches and location of perches and swings, and feeders and drinkers.
March 28, 200916 yr Every little mark shows up on a white budgie. If there was only a very small amount of blood on the feathers it may not have even been noticed on any other colour budgie

I have my four budgies in a cage this size: 48" Long 24" Deep and 36" High, they have about 8 different size perches (more than one at the same height), a big branch that provides even more perches, 3 swings, 2 water dishes and 2 food dishes (one for seeds and pellets the other for fruits and veggies) and 10+ toys and they still have a lot of empty space to fly around.. isn't that enough? You might try adding a food/seed cup per bird. That way if someone gets chased away from one dish, they can go to another one, and if they all want to eat at the same time, everyone's happy. So for 4 birds, have 4 feeding stations.

So I'll have to add more feeding stations.. which means more mess lol. But it does makes sense because they always want to do the same things at the same time ..Silly birds
