Posted March 25, 200916 yr What is it... I've been told male and female in the past so we'll see... plus Hey I miss him/her/it... and I just wanted to look at the pics
March 25, 200916 yr This photo looks like a bit like a cock. the cere is too smooth and looks a bit opaque to be a hen. I have a lutino pair with very similar ceres, ( i know yours is lacewing ) and i will try and get photos soon. Your other photos look like hen though I think you need some one to look at the cere in person to be able to really tell. Has'nt MB been able to tell??? Edited March 25, 200916 yr by **Liv**
March 26, 200916 yr Author Yeah MB's got it at the moment... she put it down with a cock (because most people thought it was a hen) and nothing happened... She has now put it in with a hen... (because some think cock) and I don't think anything has happened either... lol. Maybe its a new monk/nun mutation....
March 26, 200916 yr I sent your pictures to three emminent show breeders who are JUDGES also. First answer back.................. It certainly looks like a Boy Edited March 26, 200916 yr by KAZ
March 26, 200916 yr Here is my pair. The hen has never had more than a light tan to her cere, but it still shows the roughness of a hens cere. The cock looks to me like the one you have.
March 26, 200916 yr I sent your pictures to three emminent show breeders who are JUDGES also.First answer back.................. It certainly looks like a Boy Second opinion in from Top of the top breeders and two judges Hi Guys, We think almost certainly a cock. Left eye looks in need of treatment.
March 26, 200916 yr Fourth JUDGE to look at this bird says......... I RECKON ITS A COCK, EYE AINT GREAT EITHER, AJ Four great judges say COCK JB. Three of those well informed judges have stated that the eye is an issue.....if a bird isnt well it wont breed. Time for the vet. PS eye issues can indicate a psittacosis carrier at times........either way needs looking at.
March 26, 200916 yr Author hmmm interesting, I will have to get it looked at... did they say what they thought it could be? I'll have to try and get in contact with MB...
March 26, 200916 yr Nothing elaborated on....but a combination of a bird that wont breed and a funny eye........most show breeders would have him on a 6 week course of doxycycline by now. Could it be scaly face kaz?No...........it starts at the beak well before it gets to the eyes. Edited March 26, 200916 yr by KAZ
