Posted March 25, 200916 yr i have been reading that parents can go for a second time while still feeding babies? is this alright to do because i dont want to kill my adult budgies? it has been 1-2 week since the last baby came out and the parents look ready again ( same condition they were in when they had their first round) and theres a budgie egg on the ground that i took out p.s i took out the budgie boxes because i thought they werent supposed to go again straight away and a couple days later i put a tiels breeding box in and the budgies claimed it so i took it out again ( 2-3 days ago)
March 25, 200916 yr Yes, your budgies can go a second round if they are in good condition (as you say they are) Its three rounds that is a big NO NO.
March 25, 200916 yr Author yea i have 4 adult budgies, 2 adult tiels and 4 adult quails that i keep all the babys im goin to sell
March 25, 200916 yr when you say the last baby came out do you mean came out of the egg or came out as in fledged?
March 25, 200916 yr are you colony breeding? How many nest boxes are in the aviary? Yes they can go for a second round in a row if they look healthy and are still in breeding condition.
March 26, 200916 yr Yes, your budgies can go a second round if they are in good condition (as you say they are) Its three rounds that is a big NO NO. This might be contentious but i let mine have 3 rounds if they are still in condition and have had no previous problems. I know lots of other breeders that do the same. Liv i'm not so sure it's a big No No. Interested to hear what other people do.
March 26, 200916 yr I stop at two rounds, but foster any eggs laid for a round three while chicks are still in the nestbox.
March 26, 200916 yr Author 1-2 weeks since they've fledged i conoly breed because i hadnt heard of cabinet breeding before althought i think i will next year because everyone on here says its better
