Tamer than I thought.....

My post below announces my new Budgies. What I didn't know when I bought them just how tame they would really be. I knew the hand-fed boy was ever so imprinted but the two little flighted Budgies seemed so wild and wound up. Well.... some friends came over this morning for coffee and they began to get the new birds out of their cage. Both of the new birds perched ever so nicely on the finger and hand and for the most part were content to be talked to and "made over". I couldn't believe how gentle and calm they were. The seller had reassured me that they were very young birds and now I see that probably all but my nastiest little female will want to be tame and come out and play. How do I keep them all tame? I was willing to be content just to watch them interact and enjoy their toys and one another. This is even better.

Sounds like you've hit the jackpot! :D You lucky thing. If you handle them everyday they should stay fairly tame. :)

just spend as much time with them as possible! Luvky you having tame birds! :)

Lucky, lucky you! If you handle them and talk to them every day, they should stay the way they are. Depending on how young they are, right before they go through their first molt, you can expect them to "get atttitude", or "test their boundaries", or whatever phrase best describes the equivalent of the "terrible twos" in people... :):D You will wake up one day and they may act like they've never seen you before! It is normal, and you will just have to work with them a bit more. Once the molt is over, mine settled down, but I clipped them a few weeks before the molt really started, and that helped considerably...but I had so many it was necessary. :D And you may find your nasty female ends up the tamest of them all! :)
