March 22, 200916 yr I'm fairly new to breeding but I honestly thought it was a male, blue beak?? It's so hard for me to tell at this age, I'm always getting it wrong!

Blue cere only applies to older birds past their first moult and not at this age. Any young hens with white on cere, including white with hints of blue are females. Young females and females not in breeding condition have white blue ceres.
March 22, 200916 yr Im going to have to disagree with everyone else and say its a hen. To me it does not look like a male at all. I could be wrong but I doubt it. Note the whiteness of the cere.

March 22, 200916 yr I only looked at the top posts and dave and jimmy said its a cock. So did bird lady. Im talking about the grey baby. I may be wrong its just my opinion. Edited March 22, 200916 yr by Pearce

March 22, 200916 yr some photos indicate hen but others look cock to me, so I agree with Kaz on this one also. Shannon do you have any more recent photos? How many chicks so far this year? Are you going to breed through winter?
March 22, 200916 yr Yeah I didn't say but I was looking at the green bird too. Thanks Pearce for that info, I always thought males had purple nostrils and female chicks had white nostrils.
March 22, 200916 yr At first I didnt see the grey bird either, I think it was added in after. If I see a bird with noticeable white rings about the nostrils or just a whitish cere in general I say hen. If I see a cere a pinkish color with no white, all the same colour and flatter I say cock. Thats how I identify the sexes and it works pretty good for me.

March 22, 200916 yr I think the green chick is also a hen... a clearer shot of her will confirm My thoughts too
