I put the ring on him and it just slides right off. I find that the bird is around 9 days old when I ring mine, does that indicate that the bird will not be big in size?

Everyone I know rings their birds at like 5 days of age, If I did that the ring would just fall off.

 

The parents are cobalt cock masking opaline and yf blue hen. How is a pied possible? Maybe the chick is just opaline.
