March 19, 200916 yr Author Does your husband have nest boxes in his aviary and is he breeding the birds? Would one pair sucessfully breed in an aviary that size? Yes, we have nestboxes in the aviary at breeding time. I believe they will breed earlier this year as all signs point to them pairing up now and making new friends. They would breed in an aviary your size Pearce. Box type is rectangular and deep....about a foot by a foot by 2 feet deep.....hung on an angle so they go in gently ( ona wall ladder in the box ) and dont knock the eggs with their tail. Seed type......small parrot with some budgie seed mixed in. Lots of corn, greens, apple, wholegrain bread with seed and protein powder in it etc.
March 19, 200916 yr Author i love tham parrots how much are thay ?? Just like the various prices of budgies its the same with princess parrots...can start from $60 upwards to thousands for the rarer mutations.

March 19, 200916 yr Author Current price of yellows is approximately $650 to $900 and whites $1,000. Libby I know someone who often wants a foster mum to handrear his yellows....maybe next time he does you can do a deal for one with him I will let you know details.
March 19, 200916 yr Aww no way, I'd never rear a yellow to keep as a pet, wayyyy to special to be a pet, they need to re-produce, not be wasted being my sidekick LOL! A normal green or a blue suffice's me Colour doesn't change personality... Are the hens as tame? Â Although I'll still rear all your babies and his for free for kicks Don't get me wrong there LOL

Trying to come out of the aviary without 6-7 birds attached is hard....you kind of have to swat them off like flies As with budgies the hens bite harder...they do the test nibble on you...when they play up I make them step up over and over again to stop them being naughty. Here is some of them taken this evening...... eating my earrings pretending to behave Hello Ken ! kisses new ear piercings Velcro smokey kissing ken Velcro "Baby" Baby Edited March 19, 200916 yr by KAZ
March 19, 200916 yr 1 major problem with princess parrots - you can't stop at 1! My first was a handicapped girl whom I adopted and named Princess. She was so beautiful and happy. Then I thought she needed company, so I bought Prince and they got on like a house on fire and Prince would dance, sing and hop around the cage. Then a friend at work asked if I'd adopt her male princess parrot so of course I said yes, so Monty came home with me. Now Monty looked lonely so I figured he needed some company, so I bought Matilda. Problem was Monty didn't like Matilda so I swapped her with Princess. Prince was over the moon with Matilda who quickly asserted her dominance over Prince. Then in late November we had shocking storms and floods and Princess somehow ended up drowning in her water bowl. So now Monty is by himself again and I've got to find another princess parrot female . . . Â So, you see it's just not possible to only have 1 princess parrot!
