Posted March 18, 200916 yr My husband keeps princess parrots, originally the greens ( the natural mutation ) and then blues. BUT now he has gone into the yellows and whites. Here are some of his birds. 90% of his aviary birds are tame. The yellows and whites are very expensive birds right now. PS I wish budgies came in yellow and pink Edited March 18, 200916 yr by KAZ

March 18, 200916 yr Author They are enjoying the vegetables kaz. I like them all but the yellow and pink one stand out to me. so does the white one by himself. Is it hard to sex princess parrots? Very nice. I really like the yellow and pink ones too. The whites are my husbands favourites. The white males end up with a blue flash along their wings once they mature some more at around 3-4 years of age...they are called white limes. That white is a male. Our white is a female and wont get the blue on her wings. She is worth $1,000. DNA sexing is the surest way to sex them at a young age. Once they have their first moult their actions show if they are male or female. One female split we were sent from Sydney turned out to be a male as he is showing by his actions right now. He wasnt dna sexed by the breeder...the breeder thought he knew it was female but he was wrong. Edited March 18, 200916 yr by KAZ
March 18, 200916 yr They are gorgeous!! I love the yellow and pink ones the best. The colours are so vibrant
March 18, 200916 yr I love all princess parrots but am very partial to the original green. Others sure are nice though. When male princess parrots are mature they have a spatule at the end of their longest wing feather - it's like a tiny feather on the end of a feather. DNA sexing is on average $30 give or take a couple dollars.

March 18, 200916 yr does your husband have any other birds with the princess parrots kaz? Can any birds be in the same aviary as princess parrots?
March 18, 200916 yr Author does your husband have any other birds with the princess parrots kaz? Can any birds be in the same aviary as princess parrots? In that aviary, 10 metres by 3 metres by 3 metres...... there is princess parrots, canaries, and gouldian finches. Princess parrots are gentle souls so the other birds in there are fine. Large spaces and plenty of room for all. Lots of nooks and crannies.
March 18, 200916 yr Great looking birds kaz. tell Ken i said they look great and see if you can get another photo with them sitting on him - that was great. How is Warnie? He was my favourite!!!

Here is the spatulas on the male princesses flights ...this is the way you tell boys from girls. See the projections on the very end of the flight feathers on each side...just one per side.
