Yesterday i found that my pair that had 3 eggs had broken them all. I noticed the male had been going into the nest box with the female, is it usually the male or female that breaks eggs. I have decided to put the pair back into the aviary seeing the hen is 16 months olds, she was showing signs in the aviary that she wanted to breed but i think i will wait till spring before i try her again.

Can be either male or female that breaks and eats the eggs Deb. Only way to tell sometimes is to look for the guilty culprit with egg face :happy-dancing:

So sorry for your egg losses... A rest in the aviary sounds like a good idea. I hope the second time round is more successful.

The hen was the one with egg on her face, which is disappointing because she is one i handraised so i really wanted to see how she would be as a mother. Hopefully if i wait a few more months before i try her again she will be more successful.
