March 10, 200916 yr If the beak is abnormal I would get someone to show you how to trim it correctly and you will learn how to do it yourself. I trim 2 of my birds beaks every 4 days, it was hard at the start but its quite easy now. Also, I would treat him with ivermectin to be on the safe side, it cant do any harm. These are just my opinions.
March 10, 200916 yr Author He does look more like Kitch than the other pictures, how fast will the beak grow?
March 10, 200916 yr My main question is whether you notice him grinding his top and bottom mandibles together? I have a bird with a minor underbite and she has never needed trimming as despite the underbite she can make the tips of her beak meet and grinds them down herself, I keep a close eye on her of course but it's never needed to be done. If it stays as it is now and doesn't get any worse then you won't need to worry about trimming it.
March 13, 200916 yr Author Hello, sorry I didn't see your post before. Yes he has been grinding it, it seems similar to what my old budgie used to do when he saw me coming with silver beet but he does it more often. Will that help restrict the beak growth?
