Snowy Missing Her Friends?

Featured Replies

Hi just a question, i recently had to move my cages inside due to strong wind conditions and the lose of bird due to it, now we currently have Snowy's cage sitting ontop of our Kakariki's cage were it was beside it outside. Now everytime she can hear Hamarie and Hapuka at their food dishes she is going crazy. She is trying to break out of her cage like trying to eat the paddlock on the cage door and trying to lift the flooring of her cage off to what i believe to get to them could she be missing them? Could this be whats happening now she cant see them or something esle? By the way the paddlock is due to a 2yr old trying to help mummy feed the birdies ;)

Sounds like she is missing their company. Birds are flock creatures and miss their companions when they are not around. Do they have to be separate? Is she new?

If they were caged separatly out side, but side by side so they could see each other, can you not do that inside as well? I understand it might be an issue with space, but if it's only temporary, untill the weather is a bit better, I'd try and do that. She's probably freaked out because she can here them but not see them.

It was a rush thing to bring them inside and there is not enough room to put her cage beside them again. All so we don't think we can put her in with the Kakarikis as they a parrots and becouse of that we are scared they could hurt her.She is not in a cage by her self either thats why it seamed strange to me but i will try to get her to be able to see her pals again as soon as we can.

I thought so... I know mirros are a bad thing esp. for tame birds, but could you place one outside the cage so when she hears them, she can look out and see them in the mirror??? May or may not work??? Let us know how you go.

This is an excellent idea Maesie... I thought of a mirror but not as a prjector. I agree with this thought and think it is worth the try well dealing with the situation at hand. It can't hurt any can it?? Good advice.
