Mom is a skywhite and Dad is a Greygreen greywing ... or so I was told. One looks just like Dad, but the other baby is a much brighter green. Not sure what he is?? Help please. Sorry, forgot the pics...whitewing is what Mr. Davis called her.

First a picture of Dad: 101_0260.jpg

Mom:101_0271.jpg

and the babies, all 3 from their clutch: 101_0251.jpg

Can't see any pictures!

Never heard of a mutation called skywhite, can you post her photo?

If you go by old school terms, a sky white is a skyblue white. White is the old term for dilute in white based birds, so i assume one parent is a sky blue white and the other could be a greygreen greywing or fullbody clearwing.

Mum looks like a sky blue spangle fullbody greywing (possibly Dilute??) to me. Dad doesn't look Greywing in this picture, he looks like hes's Greygreen Cinny to me??? Did you use a flash??

I can't tell what the first chick is cause the picture is blury, but it looks like a Dilute Light Green ?? the middle baby looks like a Greygreen Fullbody Greywing and the third chick looks to be the same as mom Sky Blue Dilute Fullbody Greywing .

I'm still new at guessing these things though, so wait for Neville or one of the other mutation experts to tell you. I guess I'd like to just see how bad I really am at guessing these things. LOL

No spangle in the mum

I agree that dad is a grey green cinnamon. he must be split greywing :(

he looks cinny to me too, also wondering if the green baby at the back is a cinnamon as well bot greywing

I agree ...Dad is cinnamon grey green, mum is skyblue greywing NOT SPANGLE.

I'm sorry about the spangle thing... I meant to delete that from the post. I meant just a Sky Blue Dilute Fullbody Greywing. But as I stated I was just taking a guess... so listen to the experts. Those were just my guesses.

Good guess, but the dilute genes are homo allelic, so they cannot exist in such a combination.

I was going to explain it myself but the budgie place website does it better than i could :D

Here, "C" represents the normal gene, "cg" represents the greywing gene, "cw" represents the clearwing gene, and "cd" represents the dilute gene. With these four alleles we have the following possible genotypes:

  • CC, Ccg, Ccw, Ccd - Two normal genes or one normal gene and any of the recessive genes, resulting in a normal budgie.
  • cgcg, cgcd - Two greywing genes or one greywing gene and a dilute gene, resulting in a greywing budgie.
  • cgcw - One greywing gene and one clearwing gene, resulting in a full-body-color greywing budgie.
  • cwcw, cwcd - Two clearwing genes or one clearwing gene and one dilute gene, resulting in a clearwing budgie.
  • cdcd - Two dilute genes, resulting in a dilute budgie.
