okay Birdy has done this since I brought her home about 10 weeks ago and I just now got some of it on video to see if someone can tell me why she is doing it and is it normal?

Playing - sometimes the things we do not give them to play with make the best play things

Depending on how old the bird is...

 

I have a mature hen that clears out the feed from any deep dish I give her so she can try to nest in it because I won't give her a nest box. I also have a young hen that does the same thing but she seems to do it to make room to sleep in it. It's just a bird being a bird... LOL

She doesnt want to sleep in it. She throws everything out of it and then tries to sit in it. I just wanted to make sure it was normal behavior as I am still pretty new to owning parakeets.

 

If someone does not mind taking a second to look, I have a few videos up on my you tube page at http://www.youtube.com/user/rikkisboutique can someone tell me if the noises Sunshine is making are normal. He seems to be doing it alot lately and again I am unsure if it is normal budgie sounds.

I do feel that the digging in the seed dish could be a playing and/or nesting thing too.

I would try getting a different feeder that she cant get into.

So the noises they are making are normal then?? I wasn't sure if the squawking from Sunshine was a good thing or a bad thing. I guess it is good since he does it ALL DAY everyday. lol So I guess I must be doing something right.
