Posted March 4, 200916 yr Hi there we have had this little one for nearly a year now and still not sure any one have an idea? "> ">
March 4, 200916 yr Female opaline skyblue hen as Liv says. The cere is indicative of an "out of breeding condition" hen ( female ) Check this article out All About Ceres She also needs to be treated for scaly face as she shows signs of scaly face on her beak and her feet. March 4, 200916 yr Author Thankyou for that and yes she is due to be treated again i didnt get time to do the second treatment due to moving, but will get on top of it. We are luck as moments after post those pictures we went outside to find the wind had caught some of our cages and we lost my breeding pair of budgies and one of our finches.
March 4, 200916 yr Sorry to hear about your budgies....have you caught them yet ? How did the cages get caught by the wind ?
March 4, 200916 yr Author We are having realy bad gust of wind and we thought there cages we safe on the porch but we were wrong. We haven't seen them since it happened.
March 4, 200916 yr Author From those photos can you tell roughly how old Zoey (the one in both pics) and Snowy (the one in the second picture)are?
March 4, 200916 yr Zoey has iris rings so she is atleast 5 months old. I'm going to take an estimate and say she is atleast over 1 years of age. I cannot see the eyes of the other bird but looks like a younger recessive pied hen
March 4, 200916 yr Pity Snowy is in shadow, because that looks a little like a recessive hen coloured cere. Has it ever been brownish ? Because it doesnt look purply pink there which a boys will look like.
March 4, 200916 yr Author No its never turned a brownish color and ive had Snowy for about 5 months now
March 4, 200916 yr Snowy looks like a hen to me. the cere is far too tan to be a cock. I agree that Zoey looks 2-3 years old too. Edited March 4, 200916 yr by **Liv**
March 5, 200916 yr i agree snowy's cere looks too tan and flakey to me in the pictures to be male which would be bright pick and smooth
March 5, 200916 yr I stand by my first guess saying it looks like a young recessive pied hen. i agree with you
